How it works
Decimal hours are what payroll systems use: 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours, because 45 minutes is 45 ÷ 60 = 0.75 of an hour. Multiply decimal hours by your hourly rate to get pay.
If the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as running past midnight — 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours.
