Needed = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w
Your current grade counts for the part of the course already completed; the final counts for the rest. If the result is above 100%, even a perfect final cannot reach the target.
Convert first: current grade = points earned ÷ points possible so far × 100.
The share of the whole course grade that the final exam is worth — for example 30% or 40%; it is usually in the syllabus.
